You can actually see this clearly reflected on steam charts. https://steamcharts.com/ . Of the top 25 games the only one that is "easy" is Stardew Valley at 24. Everything else is either difficult or PVP (which is very difficult). Source: 10 months ago

These games were chosen from the top 10 games by current players list on steamcharts.com . Out of the list, I eliminated TF2, Wallpaper Engine (Not really a game either..., Unturned and Destiny 2 because these games have no clear peak/low times, it's practically a "straight" line across time in these games. (If these games were featured with their 90+% percentages, that would bump the average percentage even... Source: 10 months ago
You can use https://steamcharts.com to compare it to other games if you want. It's an indie title without much marketing and no huge viral popularity or anything. So the player count itself isn't as high as some other games but I notice the population trend kind of matches other good replayable action-RPGs like the dark souls games, for example. Not necessarily as high in number but just that you can look at some... Source: 10 months ago
One of the key challenges we're addressing is that games often have long lifespans. Based on our research from SteamCharts, it takes an average of 7 years for games to reach their peak in terms of user base. Source: 10 months ago
Steamcharts.com is a great tool we can use to give an informed answer to the question. They keep values for player count as such: 1 month of hourly values, 3 months of daily values, forever and ever weekly values. Source: 10 months ago
Apex is, at the moment of posting, the fourth most played game on Steam (and it's not even the busiest time of day in the US). You can check for yourself: https://steamcharts.com. Source: 10 months ago

You can see yourself here here that every COD game on PC had a decent population throughout all of its lifecycle except those who failed on console too (COD4 remastered, Ghosts, AW, IW). That's because everyone and their mom was paranoid about cheaters and Activision never implemented an actual anticheat. Bans were manual and took forever, while all it took to the cheater was 5 minutes to be back cheating. Source: 12 months ago
FWIW, the current version (FS 22) is currently the 63rd most played game on Steam by average daily player count with ~18k users, beating out Forza Horizon 5, Witcher 3, and World of Tanks (66th, 73rd & 87th, respectively) just to name a few. The last version (FS 19) averages about 3k users daily. KSP averages about 2.5k users daily. [https://store.steampowered.com/charts/ and https://steamcharts.com/]. Source: 12 months ago
It’s literally the 6th most played game today on steam. That’s just 1 platform. The game is doing fine in both sales, and player count. Source: about 1 year ago
Dota is always the 1st or 2nd most played game on steam. I don't know what kind of "basic search" you did to think this game is dying. Source: about 1 year ago
Although looking at steamcharts.com it says that DBD has an average player count (only on steam) of 40K concurrent active players. Source: about 1 year ago
