Tip: Download application blockers (e.g., AppBlock) or browser extensions to limit websites that distract you too much (e.g., StayFocusd for Chrome). Source: about 1 year ago

Chrome Extensions: if you find yourself trying to evade your blockers I strongly recommend the Windows-level blockers rather than just browser extensions. Also note most chrome extensions do NOT work on the phone version of Chrome. Stayfocused. Source: over 1 year ago

In the meantime, try an addon like Distraction Free for YouTube or Unhook. Or you can try StayFocusd or Stay Focused(wow almost the same name) or Opal I've used the first and third ones, and they're effective. Source: about 2 years ago
If you want to restrict web pages (not only YouTube) automatically, at a certain time per day or for a few minutes per day, you can use this other: StayFocusd. Source: about 2 years ago
Another that helped was this site blocker where you get to block websites that distract you for however long you put. I think there are similar ones for your phone too. Source: about 2 years ago

Break the habit. Look through your cycle and figure out where you might be able to stop yourself. One huge thing for me was using a website blocker to stop myself from going on youtube. One example blocker is "stayfocusd", it's free, here's a link to the chrome extension. You can also get it for your phone. I either block youtube completely, or I allow myself only 1 hour from the hours of 7pm to 11pm. Source: over 2 years ago

You could consider volunteering for local food banks/charities that work with the underprivileged. It can be a humbling experience. Otherwise, consider taking personal budgeting lessons or blocking websites where you order stuff from (e.g StayFocusd for Chrome). Source: over 2 years ago

I can relate to the watching of a few too many YouTube videos. I realised part of it, at least for me, is that I enjoy video form content. I've set a timer for 45 minutes max on YouTube, through the chrome extension StayFocusd & then purchased a couple of Udemy courses in my field. These changes have helped me at least, let me know how they work for you. Source: almost 3 years ago
I think this really opened my eyes to the amount of time I waste while I could be doing things I enjoy. I highly recommend using StayFocused if your on chrome or use another tool called Freedom which does the same thing but on Mac, Windows, and Phone. I downloaded both on my chromebook and phone, so that I would not tempt myself with any websites or notifications that may pull me away from my work. Source: about 3 years ago
First things first, I suggest adding a chrome or firefox extension like StayFocused Https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stayfocusd/laankejkbhbdhmipfmgcngdelahlfoji Its a togglable site blocker that gives you a configurable amount of free time per day to browse the blocked sites too, which works great for me when I gotta dedicate the entire day to studying. I toggle it on when I gotta block reddit, youtube... Source: about 3 years ago
