I've been using http://somafm.com and it's really the only thing that got me back into listening to music. ( https://radio.garden is also interesting ). - Source: Hacker News / 5 days ago
I just had a flashback to using Winamp with multiple .m3u/.pls playlists for local and streaming content I had collected and curated. I always liked Bagel Radio and probably first heard about it from the old Penny Arcade forums or on one of the offshoots of their forums whose name I now forget. I also quite liked nearly all of Soma FM's stations, especially the Indie Pop Rocks station, but I feel that Bagel Radio... - Source: Hacker News / 13 days ago
Not a Demoscene radio per se, but SomaFM is also a donation-funded internet radio that's well aligned with demoscene listeners like me: electronic, chill, downtempo music which goes well with coding sessions. I've been listening to them for decades now. https://somafm.com. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I almost never hear that dreck, thankfully, but lost the LDB Game really early on. (TBH, I no longer try to win—I actually like listening to Department Store Christmas on somafm.com.). Source: 5 months ago
I'll second that! WFMU is the best! Broadcasting since forever across the river from Manhattan. Yoko Ono and Matt Groening are known listeners. "Bad Animals" is my favorite. For funk and hiphop, look at https://www.wefunkradio.com/ for the guest DJ every Friday night. And Soma FM has lots of amazing curated streams. Hands-down, THE best holiday mixes, with several hours of all the versions of aulde lange syne on... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
I totally get how relaxing the shower is... The hot water is like a warm blanket that is just so satisfying. However, I'd like to recommend an alternative "therapy" for achieving a similar realm of relaxation. Earbuds, somafm.com (so many good choices, but Synphaera is great for zoning out), and a weighted blanket. Give it a try. Source: 9 months ago
Generally (and for the last 20 years or so), the excellent SomaFM[1]. Mostly DefCon and Groove Salad with some Synphaera[2], AAC streams all saved in a playlist in Strawberry, has been my regular goto. Otherwise, I've been on a Synthwave/chillwave kick, since it reminds me of my younger years (80's/90's... rose-tinted glasses and all that). The Midnight; Brian Eno; Tycho; Tangerine Dream; etc... Or whatever comes... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Another alternative, though not exclusively electronic music: https://somafm.com. Source: 10 months ago
I listen to a couple of streaming radio station like SomaFM and Funky Radio. I still have a couple of crates of records that someday I want to rip to MP3, but so far, someday has never arrived. of. Source: 10 months ago
Noise-cancelling headphones will help drown out conversation for sure. Even regular music in the background should help—something with a beat and soft lyrics. SomaFM has some great stations for unobtrusive daytime background noise (I like Secret Agent and Lush). Source: 11 months ago
I'll plug SomaFM radio whenever I can. SomaFM is probably my all-time favorite platform for music... Aside from my own library. They have several channels that would fit the ambient/chill vibe. Groove Salad, DEF CON radio, Drone Zone, Deep Space One, Synphaera Radio and a couple more ambient/chill. Along with many other genres. Source: 11 months ago
I put https://somafm.com/ in the sidebar and use it for background music. I usually listen to Drone Zone. Source: 11 months ago
Https://somafm.com/ However I still don't know how to put the channels directly from here into my Winamp player. Yes I still use Winamp :-p. Source: 12 months ago

I can finally play somafm.com channels without the egregious TuneIn ads. Source: about 1 year ago
Https://somafm.com/ does this. It’s the San Francisco Police. Source: about 1 year ago
SomaFM has been doing it for years. Space station is ambient music with NASA comms overlaid. There is another that is EMS out of San Francisco. Source: about 1 year ago
Soma FM. They have a lot of nice channels to stream with many different types of electronic music. Https://somafm.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
