  • What's a good, self-hostable asset management system for borrowing tools from a makerspace?
We have looked at SnipeIT (found it by searching in this sub), which comes pretty close to serving our needs, but our main problem with it is that it is designed to be used by trained and authorised staff, and lacks a "customer"/end user perspective. Library software will often have a customer portal where users can log in to check when their books are due, extend their books, browse the collection, make... - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago

  • Trying to find a program for a specific type of inventory management
Not sure how large it expands to but SnipeIT has worked well for us. It's centered around IT inventory with assets, accessories, consumables, users & locations. Pretty straight forward and easy to setup on Linux, a bit more of a challenge on a Windows server but not horrible. Fit about 90% of our needs directly and the remaining 10% have been fairly easy workarounds. We only have 500 or so assets though. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago

Best Free Asset Tracking Software
As a web-based open source platform, Snipe-IT is a great choice for tinkerers who are comfortable adding their own third-party integrations to build the asset tracking software they need.
