I've done the same on my VPS. The only difference is that I used docker-mailserver not poste.io. Source: 6 months ago
To my specific issue. I've had a small VPS hosting only the mailserver poste.io via docker-compose, that worked well and certificates for multiple domains were taken care of via poste's internal let'sencrypt support. Source: 6 months ago
I am using poste.io on two other servers and they work just fine. I thought maybe its because of newer version, but downloading older versions doesnt seem to help. I can receive emails but I cant send them. They get stuck in the delivery queue. Source: 10 months ago
I've self-hosted my email for the last ~6 years, at first using mail-in-a-box; but more recently moving to a containerized poste.io instance. I don't have any issues with delivery; but it's likely due to how long I've been in existence. Source: 12 months ago

I'm at 34 containers on a single linux server. i5-9600K processor and 32GB RAM. CPU load averages around 10% and memory usage around 50%. A few of them are somewhat resource hungry - Nextcloud, poste.io, Photoprism to name a few. I'm also running an -arr stack along with Plex and Jellyfin. Source: about 1 year ago

I'm using poste.io behind reverse-proxy, so as you can see my compose file includes HTTPS=off variable. If you enable this parameter you have to configure port for HTTPS connections. Source: about 1 year ago
For one of my domains I wanted to at least be able to receive email without having to rely on Zoho (already using this on another domain, only one is free though) or a similar service, so I set up a poste.io server and did check outgoing mails using mail-tester.com, adjusting DNS settings etc until it scored really good. I have had good luck with the docker of poste.io The data container is separate from everything else, so it is easy to back up and restore elsewhere if you had to. It has all of the regular open source software you would expect, but isn't resource intensive. I run it on a 3GB RAM VPS. Source: over 1 year ago
