  • I-cant-believe-its-not-webusb: Hacking around lack of WebUSB support in Firefox
    > I can count the times I've needed WebUSB or WebSerial on one hand There are many things that would be possible with WebUSB that current browsers make impossible. My personal example is label printers: I would love for my SaaS app (PartsBox, https://partsbox.com/) to be able to print labels, but there is no way to access a printer from a browser other than through the "Print…" dialog, which is no good if you need... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Part-DB: open-source inventory management system for your electronic components
PartsBox founder here. I get asked about this sometimes, so I'll answer here: I'm quite happy with open-source solutions appearing in the same problem space. I bought ECDB, but left the open-source software available on GitHub for anyone who wishes to take it further. My software will not be open-source for a number of reasons, most importantly I cannot afford to take on the chores of a project leader/maintainer.... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago

PartsBox https://partsbox.com/ — an app that lets you take control of electronic parts inventory and electronics production. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • How to assign internal part numbers?
Disclaimer/clarification: I am the founder of PartsBox (https://partsbox.com/). Source: over 2 years ago
  • For prototype/design firms, what parts inventory software do you use?
PartsBox is a cloud-based subscription system. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Shout out to my fellow nerds! I'm starting a free public parts library for electronics to save a finite resource. Chips are amazing and useful for repairs or making new things but lots of surplus goes to landfill or is crushed into dust to reclaim any valuable stuff. HMU if that's up your alley!
Pretty nice to see a screenshot of PartsBox (https://partsbox.com/) as the main concept illustration :-) (I'm the founder, so this is my software that is shown in the picture). Source: almost 3 years ago
  • You guys win. It now lights up the drawer you input into Serial. Got a couple drawers working, now to do the other 36...
Now to sync it up with Partsbox to light up the drawer containing the component searched! Source: over 3 years ago
  • Personal hobby project management tool
Have a look at PartsBox, forever free for a single user. Primarily an electronics project management tool but could be used in a broader context. I would try this and condense what features you want/need. List to this Podcast for more information. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Fast and Elegant Clojure: Idiomatic Clojure without sacrificing performance
It's a PLM/ERP type app for electronics — https://partsbox.com/ Drawbacks, hmm — I'm not sure, really, there is no silver bullet, and I can't see significant problems with the language itself that another language would magically solve. I'm pretty happy with Clojure and ClojureScript and some advantages are hard to replicate elsewhere (such as business logic code being written only once and then shared between... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
  • Storing extra reels
As for keeping track of them we use a spreadsheet where I work but did look into both PartKeepr and PartsBox. Both have good and bits but PartsBox seems better, it’s also free for hobbyists. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Organise your DIY parts
I’ve used partsbox.com, which allows you to track your own inventory of electronic parts and has a free/hobbyist tier option. Would recommend! Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Dumb question, organising software.
This seems to work pretty well: https://partsbox.com/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • How do you guys do the inventory management?
I use Partsbox - it's a "cloud" tool which may or may not suit everyone, but for my (hobbyist) use the free tier does everything I need. Source: about 4 years ago
