  • Ceramic Frogs: A throwback to what hiring was like in the 90's
It used to be (years if not decades ago) that a job description posted to ba.jobs.offered or the fledgling monster.com was probably a pretty fair take on what was needed for the job, and it was often written by the hiring manager with input from their team. Nowdays it's more likely a piece of corporate boilerplate assembled by HR, passed along to 3rd party recruiters, with some vague input from the hiring manager... Source: 10 months ago
  • Can Crowdstrike Falcon Windows sensor Maverick record websites I have been to?
Hi there. Falcon is EDR, so it can see the domain names you connect to, but not what you're doing on those domains. Example, let's say you go to monster.com and apply to 50 jobs. All Falcon is going to see is:. Source: 10 months ago
  • My editing internship is over, what are my next steps?
All experience is valuable. You have to constantly be learning. You don't even know right now, what you don't know. You probably have no idea of what it takes to be an assistant editor - even though you have been doing completed videos for your non profit. Your next step is to find video companies in your area (every state has a film commission, they all have a film production directory) - look at Production... Source: 10 months ago
  • Appropriate Summary for Product Marketing Manager

  • What's with all the "recruiters" trying to get me to work with no benefits?
I don't know how they got my contact info but they got a google voice number that's attached to a monster.com resume (Yes I'm that kind of asshole that use multiple virtual numbers to track this sort of thing). It's at least possible that one of them got my resume when I was applying and sold it to a contact list. Source: 11 months ago
  • You don’t need a LinkedIn account when you’re OE or mainly in general

  • Does anyone feel annoyed when "helpful" people give you advice such as networking and reaching
2001 was a long time ago.. Maybe we had monster.com back then (I forget). Today's internet is way bigger. You have more sites to job hunt on. Still Networking is not a bad angle to spend some time on. Look for local meetups for example. You can talk to people, mention you are looking, ask them if they know of anything. Other developers are not going to mind that.. Source: about 1 year ago

I suggest your son actively research the various career sites (glassdoor.com, indeed.com, monster.com, etc) to get a general feel of the industry. That being said, we are about to enter a large economic recession. The "mainstream" media seems reluctant to talk about this much. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Are the HR really doing their job or not ?
Yeah, I suspected that was happening because how monster.com was marketing themselves back then. They asking for a premium to have access to their 'actual / hidden' headhunters / job posting . And pretty much their pitch was connections was the only way to get hired and without connections you are pretty much screwed . Source: about 1 year ago

  • Can confirm Indeed is selling user information
Indeed has so many scam job offers that its just hard to use, of course CEO Chris Hyams never will do anything about it. Going the way of monster.com if not careful. Maybe dont let foreign companies advertise jobs on that site? Source: about 1 year ago
  • Please list trusted recruitment firms
Aerotek is complete piece of shit. Been on their newsletter for 15 years and all I get from them is stupid listings like freaking monster. Like Jesus, do some actual work. Source: about 1 year ago
  • MLM / Pyramid Schemes / Amway operations in Chattanooga
Either I have always looked too old or too mean, but this sort of thing has never happened to me. I'm almost jealous. The one time I got suckered by an MLM may have happened because they contacted me on monster.com or whichever other job board I was using at the time around 2004, but my memory's foggy on the subject. Years later, around 2008 or 2009, a guy I had known briefly in HS contacted me by phone to... Source: about 1 year ago
