I used to get manic and buy books like crazy…. A word to the wise: use thrift books for physical books. Library Genesis, Many Books, and Project Gutenberg for free book downloads. You can open the file on the “Books” app that Apple provides. Source: 10 months ago
I will definitely check out openlibrary.org and manybooks.net. But I want to make sure that I don't "bypass" anything because there are way too many eyes watching way too many things. Source: 10 months ago
Manybooks.net (these are mainly old books and classic, free is free though). Source: 11 months ago
You should be able to get them through your public library. Also, many of them may be available at manybooks.net; to be accessed through your device. Source: about 1 year ago

Https://manybooks.net is the only one which needs a free sign up- it has lots of older books, but some modern stuff too. Source: over 1 year ago
ManyBooks is another decent site (a lot of it is public domain, but they do have more recent stuff too). Source: almost 2 years ago
Yes, I know there are ways to get to the illegal stuff but not everyone's cool with that, probably including the mods. * Internet Archive - Free Movies | Free Audiobooks | Free Music | Free Podcasts | Free software & games * Books - InternetArchive | ManyBooks | Project Gutenberg | FreeBooksy | Libby - an app to borrow books from your library - suggested by u/Crafty_Passenger1979 | BorrowBox - another library app... Such a remarkable and useful project. I had to look this up in Wikipedia; it was started in 1971 (!) by Michael S. Hart. They've never done much for aesthetics or curation. I like https://manybooks.net/ as an alternative. It's mostly Gutenberg sources (with credit) but the site and epub downloads are nicely designed. Although they've gotten pretty spammy. If Sci-Hub is more your speed then Z-Library has 10 million... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
The versions on gutenberg or manybooks.net should be unabridged. I'm not entirely sure which version the amazon link in OP is though. It should be something like 1400 pages depending on formatting. Source: about 2 years ago
Https://manybooks.net is also free and legal; it has some modern stuff, but they're less known, maybe self published. But it also has lots of early 20thC fiction; you need to sign up tho. Source: about 2 years ago
There is a Kindle app for PC, Project Gutenberg just needs a browser and https://manybooks.net is another site you can read in some different computer friendly formats. Source: over 2 years ago

A set of short stories that you might like will take you back even farther. Mystery Stories of Violet Strange by Anna Katherine Green follow a young debutant of the upper crust in New York who works within her own social set to unravel mysteries. Some have to do with death; (notice I said death-not murder); but many are other types of puzzles for her to unwind; all of which help unfortunate people in difficult... Source: over 2 years ago
Hi there! It's great to see young language learners interested in reading. English is my second language, too, and I also started reading English books when I was around your age. Now I'm studying English at university to become an English teacher. Keep it up and I'm sure you'll be speaking English like a native speaker very soon! :) I want to show you this website: https://manybooks.net/. Source: over 2 years ago
For books I know u can find free PDFs there's sites like https://manybooks.net/ I never used it but my friend does. Source: almost 3 years ago
Https://manybooks.net/ mix of project gutenberg and open library, they have a lot of different file formats though, so great if you're looking to download to something unconventional. Source: about 3 years ago
To answer your "where to buy Kindle books" question: Probably not typical for r/nz but we just love our public domain books! I'm always on the lookout for publication dates up to 1924 (a little more complicated than that but a good rule of thumb). Other than the most obscure, most are available online to download as mobi files from various sites like gutenberg.org and manybooks.net. From there you email them to... Source: about 3 years ago
