  • Buying a Clara HD in 2023?
If I were in your position I would spend the extra and get the 2e, if for no other reason than iirc, it has an audiobook feature. The clara2e is only $139 on kobo.com right now. Source: 5 months ago
  • Tolino Vision 6 eManga
Im buying my manga from kobo (kobo.com). Theyre usually drm protected, but its incredibly easy to remove it. After doing so you get a standard epub file which you can read on basically any ereader, including yours. Source: 10 months ago
  • How do you keep up with LNs that have dozens of volumes? Is it even possible to keep track and remember what happen in each?
LNs are short. If they look like they're as long as your typical Western novel, it's only because of the font size or thickness of paper used. You'll probably find similarly thin books in the YA section of a bookstore, but most Western books are longer. And while Harry Potter books start out shorter, in general, they absolutely dwarf the size of the typical LN, and I don't know if there are even any LNs which are... Source: 10 months ago
  • Some kobo.com purchased books not showing up on Kobo Clara HD
I purchased some ebooks and I can see them at kobo.com but not all of them show up on my Kobo Clara HD reader. Everything is up-to-date and synced. Source: 10 months ago
  • Is piracy my only option?
I usually buy from either ebooks.com or kobo.com (sometimes Google Play). They have their own Android apps where you can read your purchases without removing the DRM. On Boox, I've only ever tried the ebooks.com app, but I've found it to have a very limited feature set, so I prefer Pocketbook. By the way, ebooks.com sells DRM-free ebooks whenever the publisher allows it. I usually don't buy Kindle books, because... Source: 11 months ago
  • Does Walmart make money from Rakuten/Kobo purchases?
This. Go to kobo.com and walmart gets nothing. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Best virtual Dutch courses for international students?
Listening can be improved using npostart.nl and speaking can be improved going to free events such as this or this or paying for tutoring on italki. Bol doesn't ship books outside of NL or BE but you can get ebooks without a Dutch residence using kobo.com or https://www.boekhandelsmit.nl/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [REC] New to reading light novels, how do you decide what you are going to read?
For digital, I'll either look at the publisher's site (particularly with j-novel.club, since it's easy there, and they sell their books DRM-free), or I just look at the publisher's listings on kobo.com, since that's where I buy most of my e-books when I can't buy them DRM-free from the publisher. • Where to?
Folks, this thread is producing a lot of piracy-oriented traffic. That needs to stop. There are numerous places where Jim's books can be purchased. Addressing "Fugitive" specifically, I easily found the anthology it's in (Instinct) on kobo.com, which I checked first because I use a Kobo book reader. All of t his stuff can be found on Amazon, and so on. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Where to buy Wandering Witch ebooks?
Kobo.com is arguably the best option for buying e-books. As they use Adobe's DRM, it's unlikely to be changed, and they typically have the highest resolution for any images out of the various e-book sites. You can use the software here to strip off the DRM. Also some publishers sell their books DRM-free via Kobo (e.g. Cross Infinite World), but unfortunately, very few publishers do. • Help moving to Kobo
Since you aren't loading the book you bought from kobo.com you can just tell Calibre, "They Book x here, is book X in your library. So treat it like you loaded this over the wire." If that makes sense. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Help moving to Kobo
For sure. I had to look up sideload mode, LOL. Definitely don't think the trade-off is worth it. Especially because it won't impact your ability to sideload, but seems to only mean you can't buy books on kobo.com and have them arrive over the air. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I cancelled my Audible subscription that I’ve had since 2014
I use kobo.com they have a monthly audiobook subscription that’s 9.99 believe. I also like their ereader better than the kindle for ebooks. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Anyone have problems with using two linked accounts?
So, I have a question: has anyone experienced problems syncing or updating their books, where they have two linked accounts? Could the sync issue be caused by purchasing some books in the Android app (where Google now forces Kobo app users to use the Play Store to buy books), others on the device, and others on the kobo.com web site? • Japanese-English dictionary for Kobo DESKTOP
Hello! How do I use japanese - english dictionary in kobo app for pc? There is no such function in pop-up menu, only "look-upon". Should I download dictionary somewhere? Book was purchased via rakuten.co.jp, not kobo.com, if it makes any difference. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Black Friday deals on now
Check if PERKOPOLIS still works on kobo.com. Think that's an additional 10% off. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I just got my first Kindle. Any tips or settings I should adjust?
At what point did I suggest piracy? Literally every other Ebook store sells their ebooks as epub, and usually has better prices (unless you subscribe to Amazon's book subscription service, but then you don't own that book at all). Amazon falsely claims that it now supports epub by emailing the book to your device, but they really just convert it to their own format and butcher the formatting of the book. I had... • Where do i get light novels from? Preferrably digital and is there a less expensive option?
You typically buy them from the normal places that you'd buy digital books, such as kobo.com, amazon.com, the Google Play Store, or bn.com. There's also Bookwalker, which specifically sells books that originate in Japan (both in Japanese and in English), but their DRM can't currently be removed, so I wouldn't advise buying from them, whereas you can remove the DRM from the books bought at normal e-book stores. If... Source: over 1 year ago
  • How / where do I start reading LNs digitally?
For some publishers (e.g. j-novel.club), you can buy the books DRM-free directly from the publisher, but in most cases, you have to buy them from a store that sells e-books. Some of the more common ones are kobo.com, amazon.com, bn.com, play.google.com/books, and global.bookwalker.jp. Other than Bookwalker, it's possible to strip the DRM from books you buy using the calibre plugins found here. If you don't remove... Source: over 1 year ago
  • I’ve read somewhere that Kobo from Walmart includes Walmart ads on device. Is this true?
Under account settings on kobo.com you can opt out of Kobo sharing personal data with Walmart. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • How to copy Kobo reader without kobo.com account?
My brother in law has passed away and he has left all of his belongings to my wife. We are able to get into his kobo and see his ebooks, but we are trying to get them into Calibre. It seems that you need the kobo.com username & password to move them to Calibre. Source: about 2 years ago
