For MacOS there is https://kindavim.app/ which will turn any input text into a vim modal input text. I don’t fully use it all the time, but depending on your keyboard (I use the moonlander) you can set different layers to give you some motions that resemble vim. I find that is good enough for most cases. Source: 10 months ago
However, I remembered a third-party application called kindaVim (Mac OS only) that I once tried. Source: 12 months ago

Recently I switched to https://kindavim.app/ personally, to support the efforts of the developer who is putting in much more time on the problem. Source: over 1 year ago
There's a Mac helper app that allows vim bindings in any Mac app. Maybe that will hold you over until it's added. Source: over 1 year ago
A friend of mine I met through my own similar (free) library is developing this like a madman: https://kindavim.app It costs $3/month (coffee) but for a Vim person like me I gladly pay. Making this work across macOS is a total mess and a full-time job, and it's not trivial work. If you want a free version, I have https://github.com/dbalatero/VimMode.spoon as a Hammerspoon plugin that works pretty OK, but I'm not... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
CotEditor is imo the best text editor I've ever used other than vim, but fortunately kindaVim integrates with it smoothly, so. Source: almost 2 years ago
KindaVim is definitely more specific. Smaller niche. And it's a lifetime project. To get Vim moves accurate under macOS, including the Visual moves, I can't use a Vim backend. So basically the moves (there's a billion to do...) are handcrafted one by one, using macOS APIs (also, there's cases where text is readable/writable, cases were not. So actually it's several Vim engines. anyways). You can have a look at... Source: almost 2 years ago
Yes, app is available here: https://kindavim.app. Source: almost 2 years ago
i've been building an app full-time for the past 1.5 years that does exactly that: https://kindavim.app. Source: about 2 years ago
Isn't the page on https://kindavim.app clear? it's going open source now but it was a paid app. Rather than having a 30 days trial or something like that, you could use the app fully, except from 5am to 1pm. The idea being the app needs to rest, but you can use it all time for the price of a coffee a month. Source: about 2 years ago
