Though this page doesn't list the grouping element, but apparently it may work too. (I put the fill= thing to the paths, but then I run the svgs through ImageOptim for Mac and it moved them to the group.). Source: about 3 years ago
Appreciate the help. I ended up converting my PNGs to JPGs. Then I compressed them with ImageOptim at 80% quality. This brought my file sizes down drastically, without any noticeable loss in quality. Source: about 3 years ago

A very simple and easy way to pretty much guarantee an image doesnโt contain unnecessary metadata, canโt be uncropped, etc. is to first convert it to JPEG and then run it through an image optimizer (like ImageOptim [1]). Donโt use cloud software for any of this โ do it all locally. [1]: https://imageoptim.com/mac. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
Also for the web you want the best size to quality ratio - C1, photoshop and are not ideal in this regard. As someone who is a photographer and also does web performance optimization my tipp: export in C1 jpg with 100% quality and then get https://www.xnview.com/de/xnviewmp/ or https://imageoptim.com/mac' They both have the same amazing compression engine which does magic - better than the expensive jpegmini. I'm looking for something to simply cut down on image sizes for things like email and discord. On my Mac I use ImageOptim, but I'd love an iOS equivalent (running on the device) for when I'm on the go or have a shaky internet connection. Source: over 3 years ago
I see a few people using this to scrub metadata, which is great. If you're on Mac and don't mind having a UI, there's a tool I've been using for all my images that both scrubs metadata and uses the latest compression techniques. Supports most image formats too: https://imageoptim.com/mac Not affiliated, just love it. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago

Btw. For batch compressing and scaling photos use xnviewMP -> has better downscalling and compression than adobe or jpegMini and it is free for personal use and 29 Euro for professional use Https://www.xnview.com/en/ On the mac https://imageoptim.com/mac uses the same compression algorithms but overwrites the originals - means first duplicate the folder with the files.
