Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Health Sherpa and what they use it for.
  • Pay down 2.75% mortgage or not
Ok so there is a lot of math you need to do here if you really want to compare things, on top of if you are comfortable having a mortgage when in retirement. The first thing I'd recommend is going to healthcare.gov, or even healthsherpa.com to price out some plans to get an idea of where things are. Keep in mind next year FPL is increasing due to inflation. Source: 11 months ago
  • Health insurance with expensive medical needs in USA
You might try looking up plans on healthsherpa.com. The plans listed there are ACA plans and I think their interface is a little easier to browse than healthcare.gov was last time I looked. Source: about 1 year ago
  • When you 'FIRE', what do you do about health/vision/medical/etc insurance?
ACA for health insurance - the price varies a lot based on your age, location, and whether you qualify for subsidies. healthcare.gov is the official signup but other sites like healthsherpa.com can give you an idea of the rate. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Where do I go for health coverage???
ACA plans - Affordable Care Act, also deemed Obamacare or the public marketplace. Serve a great purpose. Those earning less these will receive a credit from the federal goverment towards their healthcare called a "premium tax credit." For example, Jane really needs health coverage, but the premiums are just not affordable, since she earnes about $35,000/year. Again,, her rates are determined by gender, age, and... • New job wants 20% of take home for insurance. Is this normal?
Something else you might consider is to ask your employer if they could just give you a stipend each month for insurance and go buy it on healthsherpa.com or healthcare.gov yourself. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Retire At Age 60 - What Gets You Through To Medicare At Age 65
Depending on your income you might qualify for subsidies for an ACA plan. healthcare.gov is the official site but I find healthsherpa.com a little easier to look up information without signing up. ACA plans might be cheaper than what you can get from a part time job since they might not pay a lot of the premiums. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Health Insurance
Healthcare.gov is where you would be able to buy a policy on the ACA exchanges. If you are just looking for plan and rate information healthsherpa.com might be a good place to start - I think they have a better interface. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Healthcare during RE part of FIRE Questions
I've used healthsherpa.com to compare the rates and available plans in my area and other places I'm considering moving to in retirement. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • In-Retirement Budgets
Have you looked at ACA costs? I've used healthsherpa.com to get an idea of what my premiums and deductibles would be. As a single person I don't think I could get my health care expenses down to $100 a month unless my income was below the poverty level and I could get on medicaid. Source: about 3 years ago
