If you're ready to spend money, though, I'd suggest Foundry. I recommend Foundry for these reasons:. Source: 5 months ago
Salutations, lost souls. What's happening: On the 10th of December, at 11:00 UTC+0, I'll be running a simple one-shot to test run the Advanced 5th Edition system by Level Up, using Foundry. It is essentially a fully rewritten, rebalanced version of the regular DnD 5e system, with more character customization. You can check out their website here. Source: 5 months ago
At first, I thought I had messed something up in my install, so I made a fresh image and loaded it up. This time, in addition to my update page firing that error, my news feeds on my setup home were also delivering an error saying they couldn't reach the foundryvtt.com web server. Source: 8 months ago
Well of course there is the aforementioned session zero will be the first order on the docket. Our starting point will be the Pathfinder 2E's Beginner Box. I find the Beginner Box to be a genuinely good way to introduce players to both PF2E and FoundryVTT so im gonna use it as a sorta jumping off point for the homebrew. (it also gives me time to work on the homebrew content since it will be customized to your... Source: 10 months ago
For the character sheet, I took screenshots of the sheet from our current campaign and just slapped them all into one big image. We're playing in the Foundry Virtual Tabletop software with the Tidy5e and Inventory+ modules. I think those are the main ones affecting the appearance and layout of the character sheet. FoundryVTT definitely takes some setup out of the gate, but the modules allow for so much freedom and... Source: 10 months ago
I would suggest looking into a virtual tabletop system like Foundry. These can be setup to give a video-game-like experience. Foundry especially has functionality to lock down player access to just what they need, which I imagine would be useful in a teaching environment. You could theoretically set up a campaign in Foundry, get it just right, then lock it down and clone it again and again for each different set... Source: 10 months ago
Roll20 has free tiers, as does https://www.owlbear.rodeo/ - personally I use Foundry. They do all take some getting used to but it's not overly complex. Source: 10 months ago
There are just an enormous number of options. VTTs have exploded in popularity. If you want something simple use owlbear rodeo. If you want something suited primarily to the water of the mind use alchemy. If you want to have the most options as to how to run and present your game use foundry. Source: 11 months ago
FoundryVTT - Even if you run an all paper game, I would recommend using it for campaign planning. It has everything you could want. I love the way it handles notes. It's super easy to use. Switched to it from Roll20 and never looked back.Dungeondraft - One of the best map making tools I've found. Pretty easy to use (does take some learning though). I had been using Inkarnate, but Inkarnate is terrible... Source: 11 months ago

Then go get a copy of the v11 installer from foundryvtt.com (due to the massive changes between v10 and v11, you cannot update within Foundry itself, as you normally would.). Source: 11 months ago
Look into foundry, it’s what my husband and his group would have used if his dm hadn’t already sunk money into content for roll 20. It is paid but having a good virtual table top makes a lot of difference. Source: 11 months ago
Not the above commenter but happy to try and shed some light. The reason why you would want to backup your data is in the event that you try and install v11 and, after doing so, you discover that everything is not working as expected due to modules or systems not yet being up to date and you want to go back to how things were before. In this case, you would uninstall v11, install a copy of v10 (you can do so by... Source: 11 months ago
This is my recreation of the Chapter 12: Neronvain's Stronghold map. It was made in Dungeondraft using Crosshead Studio Assets and exported for use in Foundry VTT. Feel free to use it for your own campaign. (Dungeondraft & Universal VTT Files). Source: 11 months ago
I bought Foundry because I refuse to rent software and will not pay a monthly subscription. However, for maps I just discovered (literally two hours ago) Chronos Builder which I will be using to develop maps to include into my discord channel for my OpenD6 Space campaign. Source: 11 months ago
Let me start by saying the (hopefully) obvious bit: the [Foundry VTT](https://foundryvtt.com) community is one of the best tabletop gaming communities to ever exist and I am deeply humbled by the support you’ve shown me over the last four years. Source: 11 months ago

The software supports Windows, Mac, and Linux and allows you to self-host a game server that players connect to for free directly through a web browser. Source: 11 months ago

- Foundry VTT is complicated, but the most robust VTT out there. It really does everything, form 3d dice rolling to managing character sheets to weather and special effects. One time payment. My group uses this and we love it! Source: 12 months ago
