  • App to prevent distractions at work
I've been having success with the HeyFocus app, version 1.x, which is available on Setapp. Source: 5 months ago
  • Looking for the right app
    Apps I have tried and are not enough: - https://heyfocus.com/ - https://freedom.to/ - https://selfcontrolapp.com/ - https://www.forestapp.cc/ - https://www.rescuetime.com/. Source: 6 months ago
  • Cognitive Load and Your Development Environment
There are plenty of apps and organizational systems that will help you remember future tasks and reduce distractions. For example, Focus blocks distractions and schedules your breaks and Freedom will block distractions on all of your devices at once. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
  • A collection of useful Mac Apps
Focus - Price: $19.99/year App for Mac that blocks distracting websites and apps to help you stay focused. Source: 10 months ago
  • Automatic emergency braking should become mandatory, feds say
Just https://heyfocus.com which I must have installed through Setapp, as I don't remember paying for it. It has a scripting capability so in theory I might be able to do something to prevent it from triggering when I'm active in a form. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • Looking for Blocking App that can do a bunch of things
Definitely would recommend Focus app, it can do all of the things you want. It's a little pricey ($26 for perpetual personal license w/ updates for 1 year, also part of Setapp if you have a subscription to that), but I highly recommend it. It was a gamechanger for me in terms of concentrating on work. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Pomodoro Timer
A similar Mac version of this is HeyFocus - https://heyfocus.com. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • ADHD Time Tracking
I am the developer of Timing, an automatic time tracking app for Mac. Timing works by automatically tracking how much time you spend on each app, document and website. I've heard from many members of the ADHD community that they've found Timing to be very helpful with keeping their ADHD in check. For example, Timing lets you see how much time you have spent on distractions overall (you can't improve what you don't... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Apps for MacBook that prevent you from going on specific websites after a set amount of time
Focus is great. heyfocus.com not the other one. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Web App Blocking with Pomodoro timer and app tracking but also the ability to skip Pomodoro breaks?
Perhaps this app? https://heyfocus.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Focus App for Mac and Android
I tried the trial of https://heyfocus.com/ and like it so fart. Are there any suggestions for Mac and a similar app for Android phone? Source: over 1 year ago
  • I love Forest, but there is too much friction using it
I use Focus for this. E.g., the Keyboard Maestro automation that gets remotely triggered simply launches the URL . However, any Pomodoro or distraction-blocking app or service with automation integrations or URL schemes will work. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • I'm an Addict
I use HeyFocus: https://heyfocus.com/ I bought it when it was a 1 time $20 purchase. You can define what times you want to block (Monday - Friday from 9am-5pm, for example). You can also lock preferences for when the Focus is active so you can’t change it. There’s also options for adding breaks. It’s worked well for me. I know a little about myself and I need something like this to force me from being distracted.... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • What apps, extensions, and sites do you use that few people know about?
Focus (https://heyfocus.com/). It moderates social media usage. I blacklist reddit, facebook and youtube, then set it to allow 50 minutes of breaks per day. So I get to keep up with social media, but I have to be mindful of the time; I can't fall into a rut. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How can I automate Focus mode using the M1's new Focus key? 🧑‍💻
I haven't attempted to go down the Automator route yet, instead have found Focus, which seems to be working well! The approach I've used is:. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: How to make my iMac less distracting?
4.) https://heyfocus.com/ to play the complete game :). - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Is internet addiction eradicating the habit of reading?
For 1, I use Focus: https://heyfocus.com/ It used to be much cheaper, but it really helps to stop the surfing urges for a time. Well, not stop them so much as force me to realize when I have them. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Focus Apps/Something like Forest on the phone
Hi all, I struggle with ADHD and find that app/website blockers help. My current setup is to use https://heyfocus.com/ this is a pretty effective app and website blocker, but it doesn't track usage/gamify the experience. What would be great is if it had features like Forest https://www.forestapp.cc/ . Does anybody know of anything filling that gap? Source: over 2 years ago
  • Facebook Is Down
Https://heyfocus.com/ worked for me, maybe it’ll help (if you’re on Mac). Addiction to social media is a real problem; thousands of engineers are paid to make sure that these products ensnare your attention. It wouldn’t be odd if it takes a few bucks of your own to rescue yourself. Don’t hesitate to seek help, no one will laugh at you. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Launch HN: RescueTime (YC W08) – Redesigned for wellness, balance, remote work
I tried out RescueTime in the past (~2010 or so) but I was never comfortable sending this data to a remote server. I since found Qbserve[0] which is a similar product, but it keeps all your data local. If I find myself distracted on any given day, then I turn on focus.app [1] to kill those distractions. It's not as elegant of a solution as what RescueTime offers, but all my data stays on my machine which is worth... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • How do you make your desktop browser distraction free?
I use the awesome Focus app (heyfocus.com) and block my browsers altoghether during my work sessions. Productivity and browser doesn't really go together for me - browsers are just my go-to apps for procrastination. Source: over 2 years ago
