Cookies are not the meta for tracking. Fingerprinting [1] is highly effective across IPs and across incognito/browser profiles. The only browsers I've found that defeat it on desktop are Mullvad and Tor Browser as well as most antidetect browsers. FYI I wouldnโt say that the Mullvad browser is any better at anti-fingerprinting than Librewolf. I always point people to http://fingerprint.com/ so they can see how difficult it is to beat even JS based tracking and this doesnโt even get into the server-side methods (i.e. Just fetching a stylesheet) of tracking users. The Tor Browser wonโt effectively stop fingerprinting, if anything it makes you more unique due to the low amount of people worldwide using it, and then you add points of data by using different DNS providers, extensions etc. The Tor Browser as a privacy measure is likely no better than a normal browser with uBlock if youโre also using it like a โnormalโ browser, signing into the same accounts you always use etc.... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Yeah, you get the exact same results in two separate incognito sessions in stock Chrome. They don't immediately add your fingerprint to their database. I suggest you try here also, it's a commercial product used in real world. https://fingerprint.com/ I tried safari, firefox and brave on it. Only brave failed this, every time. Went to look on Google and found several thread about people complaining brave anti fingerprinting doesn't work very well. I'm sure that happens, but I haven't done any work with gyro data myself. There's similar logic for mouse cursor movements, there are libraries out there that will generate a natural looking curve that moves the cursor from one position to another, with imperfections that emulate human hand movement. > Why do we even need an actual device? For this test, I used a variety of device ID and fingerprinting apps, but it turned out that using only one was sufficient. The results you can see in the table below are from Fingerprint OSS Demo app - the same company made this that's behind the powerful https://fingerprint.com.
