  • The /unblock API from Browserless: dodging bot detection as a service
I'm sure that happens, but I haven't done any work with gyro data myself. There's similar logic for mouse cursor movements, there are libraries out there that will generate a natural looking curve that moves the cursor from one position to another, with imperfections that emulate human hand movement. > Why do we even need an actual device? We can emulate if we even need to and set our headers to look like we're... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Apple Announces Changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the European Union
I can't wait to see what kind of tracking will be possible with these new technologies :) I know these guys https://fingerprint.com use so many of these when fingerprinting. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Brave Browser Fingerprinting Settings (Nov 2023)
Https://fingerprint.com/ (stays the same across profiles and in guest mode, too). Source: 6 months ago
  • uBlock Origin Lite now available on Firefox
I don't care about the ethics here because the ad companies, the parasites they are, don't give a shit about ethics. They track every single possible thing there is to track about a person and sell that information to anyone with a couple of bucks to spend. Funnily enough, of all websites out there one of the best is still 4chan when it comes to ads. They have 2 banners, one at the top of the page, one at the very... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Tor’s shadowy reputation will only end if we all use it
Try visiting this from incognito and clearing cache/cookies: https://fingerprint.com. This can't be legal, right? - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Mobile Device Fingerprinting Test Results, Concerns, and Questions
For this test, I used a variety of device ID and fingerprinting apps, but it turned out that using only one was sufficient. The results you can see in the table below are from Fingerprint OSS Demo app - the same company made this that's behind the powerful https://fingerprint.com. Instead of posting the actual ID values, I replaced them with single-letter representations. All profiles are exactly identical aside... Source: 10 months ago
  • iOS 17 automatically removes tracking parameters from links you click on
They already somewhat have. View the demo in normal mode at https://fingerprint.com/ and then open it again in Incognito. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • Your SaaS Is Probably Being Gamed By Your Users
Using tools like https://fingerprint.com (pro plan charges per api call, has an open source library to use for free) can provide better ways to detect a user trying to pretend like they are multiple people. Alternatively, plug and play services like https://www.trybrrd.com (only charges per MAU) can help automate this for you. Source: 12 months ago
  • Reddit just "recommended" me a community about the city of Bari, which I googled on Google Images yesterday for the first time in my life. How did it know?
Probably through fingerprinting. There was a post here about https://fingerprint.com/ not too long ago. Go there and press the "View Live demo" button. Now do the same thing in a private browsing window. There's a good chance it'll still know it's you. The best thing you can do is to set the resistfingerpinting option, as mentioned by others, but still this doesn't work 100% of the time. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Privacyguide makes Mullvad Browser number 1 in recommendation - what are your thoughts?
You should try multiple resources (such as IPQualityScore and Fingerprint (live demo) to more or less properly validate whether or not your browser actually is resistant to fingerprinting. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Firefox rolls out Total Cookie Protection by default to more users worldwide
Https://fingerprint.com/ I also tried setting privacy.resistFingerprinting = true in Firefox, but it's sad to see that most websites become unusable (most sites using canvas just render a green/purple mess), zooming in Google Maps is basically broken (skips several levels at a time), and like others have mentioned dark mode and time zones also stop working. What a mess the (somewhat private) web is nowadays. The... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Best Buy is now blocking Firefox users with privacy settings enabled
Test Brave at the “View Live Demo” on this page https://fingerprint.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Question about Brave fingerprinting
Fingerprinting are a bunch of methods to accurately 'fingerprint' your browser (particularly through javascript), and everyone does it. It is used in conjunction with cookies and regular tracking, and you can check this out on fingerprint.com and https://abrahamjuliot.github.io/creepjs/. There is no way to completely block it, so you can only randomize it. Source: about 1 year ago
  • The Mullvad Browser
Hmm, I just gave it a try with https://fingerprint.com/ and each time I restarted the browser it says it is my first visit. This is really a nice surprise, as fingerprint.com tends to always recognize your previous visits. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • How does the mullvad browser compare to firefox with arkenfox user.js?
Edit: I use arkenfox user.js and fingerprint.js can identify my browser. You can test it here: https://fingerprint.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Which browser are you using on iPhone? Which one would you recommend for someone who recently switched to iOS?
It's unfortunately useless, since you can even be fingerprinted in Safari private mode, regardless of the Public IP. You can test it on https://fingerprint.com/ (note the Visitor ID.). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Firefox vs. Brave: Which is more secure?
Https://fingerprint.com also can't fingerprint me. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Web fingerprinting is worse than I thought
Strange, `privacy.resistFingerprinting = true` did not solve the issue for me, I'm still fingerprinted by https://fingerprint.com/. Even after clearing all cache and restarting Firefox. Adding the extensions `Canvasblocker` and `Temporariy Containers` did solve the issue though. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • privacy.resistfingerprinting setting breaks tresorit web access
Background: it seems setting privacy.resistFingerprinting=true is the only thing that actually works (and only on desktop). I tested used fingerprint.com, I get tagged with a unique ID whatever I do, use a VPN, different VPN, private window, etc. Pretty scary. Only this setting helps. Source: about 1 year ago
  • My Channel Was Deleted Last Night
Browser fingerprinting is pretty advanced these days. One library and you can get a unique identifier for a user that is persistent between IP changes and incognito windows. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Privacy through obfuscation?
Obfuscation is cyberSECURITY, what you're looking for is fingerprint spoofing. On browsers, use the Trace extension and it will spoof your fingerprint periodically, plus even randomize your cookies on every page. (To check, go on fingerprint.com in Incognito, close tab, wait a minute or so and open it up and see if it's different). Try using web apps in your browser rather than apps, and simply blocking OS...
