In my experience mutagen works best for mp4s. For mp3s, I use eyeD3. For no-code, quick batch edits, I found Mp3tag extremely useful (and free). Source: about 1 year ago
At this point all I have left to do in the server, is to write the main function that scans my songs folder, and uploads, updates and deletes according to the music files that are in it.
