I don't clean ours up at all because it would take too much of my time, but I wanted some kind of searchable document for when I am trying to find old information and this process has come in handy. Then, using a program like Notepad++ you can batch search in all of them simultaneously for a specific word or phrase, making locating specific clips and the time they appear in the video very easy and quick.
