So I added the pdf for the player rulebook, monster manual, and command cheatsheet for the avrae discord bot found on dndbeyond.com as a tool to help run games through discord. Basically my idea was to create a DM or DM tool that could generate a story for you to play or generate the materials you would than use as a DM. Source: over 2 years ago
Read? Most anything having to do with the class and race/species you want to play in addition to some of the basic rules. dndbeyond.com/how-to-play-dnd can potentially be a great resource so long as you are playing the 5th Edition of the game. It WILL seem like a daunting amount of information, but it is manageable if you limit what you learn to the necessities and learn the rest as you play. If you click on that... I have a lot of these in hard book formats, but since I want to run adventures using dndbeyond.com it is going to be a good time to pick the digital versions, plus I can share all these with members of my champaigns for free. Source: about 3 years ago
There are countless videos on YouTube around how they play at the tabletop, but I think the best place to start would actually be dndbeyond.com. You will be locked to the basics, but you can get an idea from character building there because you can create characters and see how stats impact rolls and explore class features. If you haven't played before, all are welcome and we will help get you up to speed and as always, make sure everyone has a good time at the end of each sessions. You won't have to buy anything if you don't want to to start with. Here is a link to the basic rules you can look over to get a feel for the rules and what game play is like. You don't have to memorize everything as we will take it slow and will help... Source: about 3 years ago
Hello. I know the title is weird, however I have had some D&D groups member in the past that complained that they never actually get to play exactly how they want. So I thought of creating campaigns based on what you'd want (if you want to be a bard rizzing some ladies at the tavern go for it, if you want to be a rogue committing crimes against humanity.. Go for it too) so you'd get 100% satisfaction out of it.... Source: about 3 years ago
I ALWAYS recommend DnD Beyond (dndbeyond.com) for new players. Source: about 3 years ago
The basic rules for DnD are free on dndbeyond.com and that's enough to run a game with your friends. Source: about 3 years ago
Allowed content; Literally anything you can find on Dndbeyond.com except for homebrew, Rick and Morty, and Minecraft content. Source: about 3 years ago
It's just a little "virtual dice roller" for times when people don't have physical dice in hand. Meant to be usable for rolling dice, but not overly sophisticated -- there are some really great online dice rollers like dndbeyond.com which I have no intention of challenging. I want to release it for free on Apple and Android app stores. Source: about 3 years ago
At least half of my player use dndbeyond.com for their character sheets but bring their physical dice and use them instead of rolling the digital ones. As long as my players are happy I don't care what they use to make the roles. Source: about 3 years ago
Not sure if I have ADHD or not (getting tested next month) but I manage all the math of combat by using the encounter tracker on dndbeyond.com. It has saved my butt that last 8 months, especially since I have 8 players. I could never manage combat sessions without it. Source: about 3 years ago

Dndbeyond.com and roll20.com memberships have been indispensible for me. Only started playing remotely due to COVID, but I might not ever return to running games in person. Source: about 3 years ago
This is my first campaign as a DM, and I'm still pretty new to D&D as a whole. We're a few sessions into the campaign, and I was planning an encounter for the players. We use dndbeyond.com for our character sheets, and I've got all of my players in a campaign together on there, so I decided to take a look at their character sheets to see what I can do to make the encounter more balanced. Run something prewritten the first time out. If you can't/don't want to spend money on a Starter Set, then Lost Mines of Phandelver is free on D&D Beyond, or if you wanna try a one shot first, then Winghorn Press has a number of very good freebies. However, those are generally designed for multiple players, so it would mean finding a couple of other adventurers to join you. If you wanted to run just the two of you... Source: over 3 years ago
If you don't have the correct rulebook that is probably your first problem. D&D 5e rules are available for free on dndbeyond.com (at least the basic rules). Source: over 3 years ago
Title is basically it. I'm looking to find campaigns that tell an interesting story, have meaning, and aren't just "show up. Kill stuff." I'm fairly new to D&D and DM'ing and am looking to start a new campaign with my group. I have access to most WoTC campaigns through a friend on dndbeyond. I've read a bunch of campaigns, but reading through them is a high noise:signal ratio. A lot of it seems like... Source: over 3 years ago

D&D Beyond has established itself as a formidable presence in the realm of digital resources for Dungeons & Dragons, particularly for the 5th Edition (5e) of the game. As an official digital toolkit, the platform offers an impressive array of features aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience for both new and seasoned players alike. The platform's most notable features include a comprehensive online compendium of characters, spells, and items, robust character sheet management tools, and seamless integration with Twitch, making it an attractive option for players transitioning from traditional tabletop gaming to the digital space.
One of the primary appeals of D&D Beyond is its ability to provide access to essential game resources without the need for extensive physical material. The platform grants users access to the Basic Rules of D&D 5e for free, which can be especially beneficial for newcomers to the game or those exploring new character classes. Furthermore, users often appreciate the digital convenience of organizing and managing game content, such as player rulebooks and the Monster Manual, allowing Dungeon Masters (DMs) the ability to streamline their prep and facilitate smoother gameplay sessions.
D&D Beyond's popularity is partly attributed to its integration with other gaming platforms. Many DMs and players highlight the synergies between D&D Beyond and Roll20, as well as other virtual tabletops, which create a rich interactive experience, especially for remote gaming sessions. Players also frequently mention the use of D&D Beyond as a supporting tool in conjunction with other gaming software, noting its usefulness in character creation and encounter management.
The digital platform has garnered attention for its user-friendliness and expansive resource base, making it a favored choice among D&D enthusiasts. The integration with avrae, a popular bot for Discord, underscores D&D Beyond's versatility, as it aids in running intricate campaigns through text-based platforms. This feature, along with the availability of comprehensive digital versions of rulebooks, makes it a valuable asset for both online and offline game management.
While D&D Beyond enjoys a healthy reputation, it faces competition from platforms like Roll20, Foundry Virtual Tabletop, and Fantasy Grounds. Each competitor offers its unique set of features, from advanced map-making tools to sophisticated battle mechanics, challenging D&D Beyond to continuously innovate and expand its capabilities. However, D&D Beyond's unique positioning as the official toolkit for D&D 5e gives it a distinctive edge, catering to the game's canon material and official adventure modules.
The reception of D&D Beyond in the gaming community is generally positive, characterized by its widespread use as a go-to resource for campaign management. Its consistent updates and easily accessible resources have anchored its place in the market amidst a plethora of alternatives. For players seeking a reliable and officially integrated toolset, D&D Beyond remains an excellent starting point for exploring the rich world of Dungeons & Dragons.
