You will be locked to the basics, but you can get an idea from character building there because you can create characters and see how stats impact rolls and explore class features. It's just a little "virtual dice roller" for times when people don't have physical dice in hand. Meant to be usable for rolling dice, but not overly sophisticated -- there are some really great online dice rollers like dndbeyond.com which I have no intention of challenging. Run something prewritten the first time out. If you can't/don't want to spend money on a Starter Set, then Lost Mines of Phandelver is free on D&D Beyond, or if you wanna try a one shot first, then Winghorn Press has a number of very good freebies.
