Curecoin is an OG almost 10 years old POS cryptocurrency, its #1 team in the overall F@H contribution! Https://curecoin.net/ This rental service is made for people who have cards that are no longer efficient for folding but still want to participate with a high efficient PPD. And, of course, if you crunch Folding@Home, you should know about Curecoin and Banano for the same reason. Source: over 2 years ago
NOW, does it have to be a a modern day version of "The Prince" by Niccolò Machiavelli? No. Only psychopaths (not the pop culture reference, but clinically incapable of understanding morality as neurotypical humans understand it) would want that level of treachery and deceit. Cryptocurrency can alleviate SOME suffering. There are cryptocurrency projects designed to encourage selfish altruism, such as Gridcoin or... Source: over 2 years ago
The Proof of work is what is needed to keep the chain secure, you can't fake the time and energy it takes to break the encryption. And even if you do, it would be more worth your time and capabilities to just mine the chain like everyone else. Proof is stake is the alternative model. I for one see the proof of work as acceptable if of the work is useful, like CureCoin, and others similar to it.. Source: over 2 years ago
Do these need an artist verification? Or can anyone make NFT's? Will look at it. When we are talking about crypto's anyway: Check out https://curecoin.net/. Source: over 2 years ago
In terms of money yes, in terms of value... If you could make the proof of work calculate something that solves a real-world problem then you'd be driving the cost of solving that problem down. There's been some attempts to do this already, e.g. CureCoin which uses block calculations to help solve protein folding structures, which are necessary for advancing medical research notoriously processor-intensive to... I've been looking at cryptocurrencies that add (more) value to society through their proof of work/stake mechanisms. Currently I found FoldingCoin[0] and CureCoin[1], but I cant seem to work out what the difference between the two is. Is one of these particularly better? Are there other likeminded currencies that are easily mined? There's also SolarCoin[2], however it requires install of solar panels to mine. [0]... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
A temporary http://curecoin.net blog site is up (still on the curecoin.net domain)! While we work on an updated website in the background, everything is still there to get new folding team members from A to Z (just not very pretty ATM). Apologies for the delay - WordPress gave us some unexpected surprises when we tried to switch over #FoldOn! Source: almost 3 years ago
F@H has been around a long time. Not sure of the details but here is the website: https://curecoin.net/. Source: almost 3 years ago
Something like that already exists. It’s called CureCoin. Source: almost 3 years ago
Curecoin.net is not working. What's going on? Source: almost 3 years ago
Gridcoin was the answer, but you can also 'mine' Banano (a memecoin forked from Nano) by contributing unused computer cycles to Folding@Home. There are two other projects associated with F@H as well, Curecoin and FoldingCoin. Source: almost 3 years ago
I just discovered curecoin where the mining is linked to protein folding research. Put that processing power to good use. 👍. Source: almost 3 years ago
One coin that I wish would get more attention is Curecoin . Not because I want to get rich off it (although I won't complain if I do), but because I really believe in this technology has a lot of potential to help power medical research. Source: about 3 years ago
Please, keep the negative out of the sub, let's keep helping no matter how many bananos you will receive, you can F@H for DOGE and Curecoin also. Source: about 3 years ago
