Zbrush is the gold standard and it's not cheap. It has recently switched to subscription only. Zbrush also offers a stripped down free version for beginners and dabblers called Zbrush Core Mini. I've always used MOI (https://moi3d.com/) I started something like 12 years ago and always thought it would catch after having to labor through the clumsy paradigm of Rhino in school. You might want to take a look at Moments of Inspiration, http://moi3d.com/ It’s designed for artists more than traditional cad and it has a nice simple UI. If you use lost wax casting, MoI3d has the best NURBS mesher bar none. Source: about 1 year ago
