I've always used MOI (https://moi3d.com/) I started something like 12 years ago and always thought it would catch after having to labor through the clumsy paradigm of Rhino in school. Never did catch on, not sure why. Very smooth and intuitive way to sculpt surface models. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
I look at it as alternative to MOI3D [1] - an NURBS based modeler. [1]: http://moi3d.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
You might want to take a look at Moments of Inspiration, http://moi3d.com/ It’s designed for artists more than traditional cad and it has a nice simple UI. If you use lost wax casting, MoI3d has the best NURBS mesher bar none. Source: about 1 year ago
Another smal company and software worth a try: Moi 3D: http://moi3d.com. Source: about 1 year ago
I have a solid answer for you it's called MOI and it's only $295. Source: about 1 year ago
If you are more-or-less just after the freeform NURBS modeling aspect, you might like Moi3D. They have a 90-day trial, so you can see if it fits your workflow. Source: about 1 year ago
However, if you are modeling for your own projects, http://moi3d.com is worth a look as is Blender with the CAD plugin. There are a few subscription based services that per month aren't too painful up front. As long as you don't mind being held hostage. I personally refuse to accept those terms. YMMV. There may also be hobby or student licenses available for Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD or Inventor (shudder). These... Source: over 1 year ago
Check out MOI (Moment of Inspiration). By the original author of Rhinoceros, it's simple, and inexpensive, but precise and powerful: http://moi3d.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
Moment of Inspiration 3D is $295 and available at moi3d.com but it's more of a modeller than a cad program. Still, it has dimensioning now but not very complex. Source: over 1 year ago
As others have said, Blender supports NURBS, but it is not too fancy. I have played before with Moi3D[^1], which is "3D modeling for designers and artists", and I also use Blender and ZBrush quite a bit. My impression so far is that CAD-like specialized software is not worth using for artistic 3D modelling, at least the type which is only intended to be shown on a screen. That's because Blender's NURBS, curves and... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Check out MOI (Moment of Inspiration). Inexpensive, simple but powerful, cross-platform, works on tablets. No subscription, weird requirements, sharing, or cloud-only functions: http://moi3d.com/. Source: about 2 years ago
Moment of Inspiration comes to mind. http://moi3d.com The guy that makes MOI3d was the one that did the original programming for Rhino. Source: about 2 years ago
Not free, but if you’re looking for the lowest possible effort I can recommend two for your needs: Moment of Inspiration MoI3D http://moi3d.com/ and Shapr3D https://www.shapr3d.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
Here's a good, simple but powerful CAD program to check out: http://moi3d.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
I'm using Chitubox only for slicing the models. For adding supports I actually use Moment of Inspiration (MoI) http://moi3d.com/ mostly because I really don't like the way Chitubox handles adding the supports. Also they constantly keep changing something in Chitubox and every new version looks different. For the last 1.9.0 version you actually have to update the firmware on the printer for it to work properly. So... Source: almost 3 years ago
What I miss the most is a good NURBS modelling that is runs on Linux, preferrably also Open Source. Something like Rhinoceros 3D [1], or at least Moi 3D [2]. Unfortunately, all the Linux tools and open source ones seem to be focussing on mesh modelling. [1] https://www.rhino3d.com/ [2] http://moi3d.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
MOI 3d, it's NURBS based and very powerful Http://moi3d.com/. Source: almost 3 years ago
Glad that helped. It might be what you are looking for it might not be, if that makes any sense. What are you wanting to do with it might be the real question. That is can do those things might not mean that it is the tool FOR those things. If someone is going to do a lot of subdivision modeling I'd steer them to Blender 3D. It one of the best out there and it's 100% free for ANY purpose. If surface modeling is a... Source: almost 3 years ago
