I looked it up: Xonotic was the answer! It was actually quite fun, even though I had to compile from source to play on an outdated office server :) https://xonotic.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 days ago
  • Old Style online fps.

Xonotic is cool, first time fucking around with an FPS. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How is FreeSync under Linux?
Any specifics on which games? Does it work on any game? I tested Xonotic on a 144Hz monitor the other day and the highest FPS I got to see was ~90 with no tearing on Kubuntu liveiso but I was using Intel kaby lake integrated graphics, so I assume FreeSync was not at play here, even though the monitor supported it. • NVIDIA On-Demand profile mode issues
I got my infinitybook 16 pro performance edition with RTX 3060 and I am pretty happy with it so far. However, I did run into an issue. I want to use PRIME for switchable graphics to not worry about rebooting when I need to switch to battery. However, I noticed that I run into issues when using that. Particularly, some of my games straight up freeze when I run them through the render offload. Particularly Xonotic... Source: over 1 year ago

  • free low spec games (any)
Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup. Free roguelike with lots of options, but uncomplicated. You can run it on just about anything. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What's your #1 comfort game? THE one you can't wait to play after a long day and that you keep coming back to regardless of how many years pass.
Also, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a decent pick. It's free, so hard to beat the price. There's also no music or audio at all, which means I can listen to my own music or a podcast while I rampage through the dungeon as a Troll Berzerker, pulling apart goblins like they're made of monkey bread. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Old games to play with lofi music in the background
Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup is a good one. It is a classic-style roguelike that does not feature sound effects or music of its own. I will frequently queue up podcasts to listen to while I take a run or two. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Singleplayer/offline games for a week or two without internet that you can actually finish (not endless)? [PC]
If you're down for an older-style roguelike, Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup is free and it's optimal for a keyboard that has a 10-key (numpad) for movement. There is an endgame, but it takes a lot of luck and doing to reach it. I just poke at the game on occasion to see how far I get. Never been within any reasonable distance of the end. • [Steam] Rift Wizard (25% off / $11.24)
DCSS or Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup as it's known in full is considered to be one of the best roguelikes out there. DCSS originally released in 2006, it's a fork ofLinley's Dungeon Crawl aka. Crawl (1997) which again is based of off modified NetHack code (1987). Source: over 2 years ago
