Except when you actually enjoy things being fast. For example, HTTPie easily adds 0.5-1s delay to every request because it's written in Python, especially on the first invocation. Xh (https://github.com/ducaale/xh), on the other hand, starts immediately because it's written in Rust. I very much like this trend. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
HTTPie is great and was a big improvement for me over cURL. However, I ended up switching to xh[1] as it's significantly faster and I prefer its output. https://github.com/ducaale/xh. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
No, but unless portability is a concern or you're massively familiar with curl, you might want to consider xh. It's much more intuitive. https://github.com/ducaale/xh. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
Very nice, you should add xh to the User-Agents though. Source: 11 months ago
While not a rewrite - one recent tool for making http requests which I quite enjoy is: https://github.com/ducaale/xh It's basically python httpie rewritten in rust. My only gripe is that I keep forgetting that it exists - and that "xh" is for http and "xhs" is for https. So I frequently end up with curl anyway:). - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
That’s the same as bat:[1] one of the features is syntax highlighting. Kind of unexpected to find a concatenation program… which also does that. [1] https://github.com/sharkdp/bat. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Good find, thanks! I'll check if I prefer it to moar. As for bat, according to https://github.com/sharkdp/bat#using-bat-on-windows, the Chocolatey package simply installs `less` alongside `bat`. Seems like a good idea, but I haven't tried it. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I referenced bat because I've found that suggesting cygwin sometimes provokes a negative reaction. The GP also mentioned needing to install GNU tooling as if it were a negative. Bat is fancy pager written in Rust. It's on GitHub: https://github.com/sharkdp/bat. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
Try bat (it’s like cat but better) Https://github.com/sharkdp/bat. Source: 5 months ago
For this reason I have a zsh function in my .zshrc with bat (which pages by default, if it's longer than your console height): https://github.com/sharkdp/bat#highlighting---help-messages- Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago# in your .bashrc/.zshrc/*rc.
