Possible disadvantages of Working Not Working

  • Membership Cost
There is a cost associated with being part of the platform for freelancers and, potentially, for companies too, which might not be ideal for everyone, especially new freelancers.
  • Niche Market
The platform primarily targets creatives and artists, so those not in these industries might not find it as useful or relevant.
  • Selective Acceptance
Working Not Working is selective about who they allow into their freelancer pool, so not every applicant might get accepted, which could be frustrating for some trying to join.
  • Limited Job Scope
The job opportunities might be limited to certain creative fields. While extensive for those within the target industry, others may find it lacking in diversity of job types.

Possible disadvantages of SimplyHired

  • Limited Unique Listings
As an aggregator, a significant portion of the job listings on SimplyHired may overlap with those found on other job sites, offering fewer unique opportunities.
  • Lack of Advanced Filtering Options
Compared to some competitors, SimplyHired may offer fewer advanced job search filters, making it difficult for users to narrow down specific job criteria.
  • Potential for Outdated Listings
Since SimplyHired pulls listings from various sources, there's a possibility of encountering outdated or already-filled job postings, requiring users to verify job availability.
  • Fewer Employer Reviews
The platform doesn't have as comprehensive a database of employer reviews as some other job sites, which may limit users' ability to research potential employers.

  • hello! i'm a graduating multimedia art student from the philippines and i've been curious as to where I can effectively promote my behance portfolio? does reddit have a group for that or nah? Anyways, thank you💙
WNW can be very useful. Less specifically for bechance but can be a great way to find projects. Source: over 2 years ago
  • ISO: Artist to design a commissioned coloring book
I'd second this except for the fiverr part. Fiverr is a great way to continue exploiting low wages for talented work, keepingtthe whole industry struggling. Perhaps try somewhere like Working not Working or check out AI-AP, or the Society of Illustrators. Source: over 2 years ago
  • After nearly eight years, I finally got around to a complete portfolio overhaul.
As I understand it, though, there's never been a better time to get into the freelance world. A lot of agencies had to downsize during Covid, and there's an attraction to paying skilled freelancers to whom you don't have to provide benefits. On the WorkingNotWorking job board, there seem to be a good mix of attractive Freelance and FT opportunities. Source: over 3 years ago

  • What kinda job posting is this??
Honestly, Upwork has been great. You might try sharegrid. I have never used that part of their offering, and I don't know how many editor jobs there are there. I guess there is always craigslist. You could try simplyhired.com, 24seventalent.com, and maybe monster.com... Again I haven't searched there in a long time. I am pretty happy with Upwork. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • Entry level and mid-level front end web/software developers: Do you use JS frameworks/libraries?
Most of the job posts I see on indeed.com and simplyhired.com list a requirement for ReactJS/Angular/VueJS. I am curious to see what percent of entry level and mid-level front end web/software developers get to use plain JavaScript rather than frameworks/libraries. Please take this poll! Thanks.
