Vertcoin is a Litecoin fork that follows bitcoin core development. The dev team is hardcore about ASIC resistance and they have hard forked (3 or 4 times, I think) to kick them off the network. We're using bash as our terminal shell for now (it is standard in many distros) but it is not the only one out there.
