In contrast to other "private" search engines (except for Presearch and SearX), it doesn't have trackers, or not nearly as many. This information can be verified by installing uBlock Origin and ClearURLs, which detect 0 and 2 trackers respectively, against for example DuckDuckGo's nearly 10 and 19. Other alternatives are SearX (No trackers AT ALL, still kinda user-friendly) and Presearch (A bit easier to use but a tiny bit worse for privacy, it has 1 more tracking element).
Based on our record, Brave Search seems to be a lot more popular than uBlacklist. While we know about 328 links to Brave Search, we've tracked only 9 mentions of uBlacklist. I use ublacklist, which does about the same thing (but customizable). I use it for things other than pinterest (spam stackoverflow clones, for example), but it should be able to do pinterest too. Source: over 2 years ago
For the last 6 months or so, I started maintaining bookmarks because of frustration with the search results. Occasionally, a useful search result is found on 2 or 3rd page. I also installed https://iorate.github.io/ublacklist/ recently to block some annoying sites from results such as geeksforgeek polluting C++ related searches.
