Weeks ago when tutanota became tuta I had same issues...wouldnt allow me log in. I clicked links provided by tuta to "migrate" data...never worked. Few days later...i was able to log in at https://mail.tutanota.com/login and continued until today, when my credentials were not "valid" anymore so tried at tuta.com and same thing. It is slow and designed to be easy. In its defense it is a casual app designed to be used casually. On the other hand, I took the German and Dutch courses in 2019-2020 and got enough basis in them to be able to now listen/watch content in the languages and to learn from the languages.
