Testmy.net VS Speed Test by Cloudflare

Hello! Ever since moving into a new house, I've haven't been getting the speeds I've expecting. Specifically, videos and websites will fail to load or load extremely slowly most of the time. The odd thing is, when running a speed test (tested using both testmy.net and speedtest.net on Firefox with my laptop wired via ethernet), I'll get 5 mbs down on the first test, 100 mbs on the second test, then back down to 15... Another speed test site is https://testmy.net The site claims superior accuracy (which I can't confirm but probably someone here can evaluate one way or the other). T-Mobile - 5G WI-FI decently priced... If it only worked! Below I'll post my results from a few hours of a test I did today using Testmy.net. This is an every day occurrence. You could be watching a YouTube video at a nice 1080p60, but then it'll switch to buffering for about 5-15 minutes on average. Or you can watch it on 144p or 240p "with some buffering". It is not in the same league as Flent, but I really like https://speed.cloudflare.com as an in-browser internet speed test. It's backed by a very densely deployed CDN, it tests both loaded and unloaded latency, and it reports jitter and draws candlestick plots. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago

Followup: I just tested OpenWrt 23.05.2 + luci-app-sqm + cake with https://speed.cloudflare.com/ With the limit set to 1 Mbps (1000/1000), my upload latency dropped from 80ms to 25ms, but speed was hard-limited to 1000/1000. With the limit rasied to 1G/1G, cake stopped working and my upload latency returned to 80ms. So I stand by my original comment. This is helpful, thank you. We weren't expecting anything being routed through a wall, just a longer cable. Speeds right next to the router on my phone were still like 20Mbps. I will try creating the two networks and seeing if that helps, though I still think there is something wrong with how it was set up. I've been using cloudflare (https://speed.cloudflare.com) for the tests which is in Mbps. Source: 5 months ago
