TaxAct Reviews

What’s the Best Online Tax Preparation Software? TaxAct vs TurboTax vs H&R Block
Price Lock Guarantee. TaxAct offers a price lock guarantee to all customers at sign-up. Once you create your account, you’re locked into TaxAct’s pricing at that moment, even if you leave your return for months and TaxAct raises prices during the intervening period. Since tax prep companies frequently raise prices close to the filing deadline, this is great news for frugal...
TaxAct vs. TurboTax 2018
TaxAct’s audit assistance consists of a FAQ page on its website. But customers can buy audit defense from a partner company called Protection Plus for $49. Coverage includes three years of audit services for this year’s return, and TaxAct says the product will guide you through the audit process, handle IRS and state correspondence on your behalf, help with denied tax...

  • LPT: Use IRS.gov to file your taxes for free if you make less than $73,000
I was a loyal customer of taxact.com from about 2002 to sometime around 10 years ago when they just jacked up the prices from $12 or $13 to about $40 or more (I think they got bought over by some other company). I looked around and found FreetaxUSA and stuck with them since. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How hard is it to do small business taxes?
I wouldn't trust HR block for anything besides W2 returns. Anything that requires more, they usually won't have experience in. I usually don't suggest businesses to DIY. But if you're taxes are relatively small and simple I would use taxact.com. www.freetaxusa.com is an option also, but I don't know how good their business side of it is. I usually suggest that for w2 returns instead of going to HR block. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Tax Prep Software Prior Years
DIY I would use taxact.com. but this is preparing a return for someone else. so shouldn't be preparing this. partner with a tax pro and outsource the returns. get a cut of the revenue. I think even with 50% of the fee both parties will be happy. Source: over 1 year ago
  • If you have earned income credit because of earned income in 2019 - you can not e-file?
Helping a friend ...tried to file on taxact.com he had earned income in 2019 but no earned income in 2021 from he sources mentioned below - so taxact says -. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Homeschooling is exponentially better than normal schooling (if you know what you’re doing)
The following January or February, you'll get a form in the mail called a W-2 detailing how much money you made from that employer during the previous year and how much was automatically withheld for taxes. (If you worked for two employers during the year, you'll receive two separate W-2s in the mail). When you've collected all your W-2 forms, go to taxact.com or turbotax.com (or something similar)*, and pick... Source: almost 2 years ago

  • APR for Credit Cards - Discover It Card; False Advertising and Lies?
You appear naiive in every sense of the word. Stop getting your info from your "trusted adult" or reddit for that matter. Get your credit report and scores from the only trusted sources: MyFico or Annual Credit Report. Read the government housing websites, or even go over to the forum community on MyFico, which I personally like. If you follow through, you won't need to ask questions like this. Source: 6 months ago
  • Stuck at 741 - Card Recommendation Please
Yeah, we all have 40+ different credit scores. Your CK scores are "legit" in terms that they're accurate VS3 (VantageScore 3.0) it's just that VS3 is rarely used in lending decisions which makes them nearly irrelevant. Fico scores are used the the majority of lending decisions, with Fico 8 being the most commonly used model today. The Fico 9 you are getting is lesser used than Fico 8 since few lenders adopted... • What information shows up on a "hard pull" and "soft pull" of a credit report?
When a company does an inquiry without your requesting it, like for a "pre-qualified" offer for a credit card, that's a soft inquiry and it doesn't show as a hard inquiry on your credit report. You can also check your OWN credit like on myfico.com, and that's a soft inquiry. Background checks are also in this category. Source: 11 months ago
  • Have 3 Credit Cards Maxed out. What's my best course of action?
You should go to myfico.com for credit help. This subreddit is know for some awful advice lol. Source: 11 months ago
  • Confusion on Bank of America card recommending service.
Go sign up for an account on myfico.com or experian.com to see what your actual FICO scores are. You should also pull your credit report from annualcreditreport.com. Source: 11 months ago
