The best starting points for this would be the iproute2 man page [1], superuser [2] and serverfault [3]. There are potentially also Linux namespaces to consider. There are also some youtube videos that can walk you through the 'ip' command and debugging routes. Start with "debug route linux iproute2" in their search. If you are happy with the performance, just a couple of notes: I BELIEVE that Apple replace the battery and whole keyboard (because it is quicker for the customer); if you do it yourself you will need to unglue the battery (not simple), but as others have said, ifixit.com have guides. Some good tips for you, though: unplug your laptop when it's asleep/shut down. This will help increase the lifespan of your battery. Look up a few tutorials on how to disassemble it. Might be able to find some on ifixit. I recommend a tilting laptop mount to help increase airflow and improve wrist ergonomics.
