There are a few client-side libraries like Lunr [1] or Elasticlunr [2]. For my recent project I went with a server-side approach using Stork [3]. It also provides a script to be used on the client. I recently got the Wavlink AX3000 mesh router to replace my service provided router so that I can set my own preferred DNS server (running Pihole on my Rasberry Pi). Since hooking up this router I've been seeing anywhere from 6-12 DNS queries per minute to bing.com of A and AAAA type.
