You can use it just by itself. you just type in the amount you want to charge, and swipe the card. thats what we do. then in our pos software we enter the payment was made. some pos software does integrate more directly with it, but ours does not. We are looking at a few different brands but know there are hidden things associated with each one (high transaction fees, monthly subscriptions, wifi/landline connection limitations, and even ones that we ALMOST bought before realizing it wouldn't fit our 12.9" iPad. 2) Is Square's payroll service worth a damn? I use Square terminals to accept payments at farmer's markets. It seems like I could give one to each employee who sells at a market.
