AirBNB and sonder.com have great rates for 7+ and 30+ day stays, and when I'm in transit and not sure which town I will be in the Hotel Tonight app works well. Others, try using Hotel.com and booking.com in advance, but they are not guaranteed rooms, and almost every year I see people trying to argue with the front desk that they have a reservation.
