Simple DNS Plus VS Cloudflare DNS

Which DNS do you use for your external queries? We like to use a shadow DNS setup where Windows Server DC's do most of the local lookups but they reference another local server running Simple DNS Plus which handles anything external (both outgoing and incoming as we host our own DNS records); it has some nice performance / security features and helps insulate our DCs. I added cloudflare-dns.com as a static entry and cleared cache. Cleared cache on my machine and pinged google.com. There were 2 DNS requests against both dynamic servers. I then pinged yahoo.com and 2 more DNS requests were created. I have not looked in Wireshark to see if the DNS requests are requests to the destination URL or if it's to cloudflare-dns.com. I've been using cloudflare-dns.com for quite a while and noticed today that it stopped working on my Pixel 7 Pro. Switched it to one.one.one.one and it started working again. So far, so good. Source: 12 months ago
