  I use a wikipedia mirror cause I didnt bother changing my search engine ( https://searx.tiekoetter.com ) to not redirect there. Its not more reliable (in fact its less) because it fetches the data from wikipiedia each time, but its theoretically more private. I dont care about that though im just lazy.   DuckDuckGo & Co. - DDG, Swisscows and Ecosia all use Bing index. For people that only care about privacy, this is a non-issue. But I don't like the idea that the entirety of web currently depends on just two companies. So I personally don't use them. Same logic extends to Startpage, which is owned by an ad company & uses Google's results. As they rely on the Big 2, they're closer to frontends/MetaSearch engines in... Source: over 1 year ago

• I thought Brave didn't collect data? Am I missing something.

  I use brave, google (for technical subjects when I can't find answer with brave), and for anything that has a remote chance to be censored I use engines with their own crawlers : fireball.de, gigablast.com, yandex.com and other browsers to be sure but I don't think they have their own crawler : lycos.com, swisscows.com, mojeek.com, metager.de.
