I needed a tool to save my online classes and found ScreenRec. Unlike other screen recorders that make you jump through hoops, ScreenRec does the basics well. One click starts recording, and you get a shareable link right away. It’s a good free screen recorder that just works.
I use ScreenRec to record simple how-to videos for new hires. It captures every click and my voice without limits or watermarks. I share a private link so they can watch on their own time. It’s made onboarding much smoother and saved me from repeating the same steps in meetings.
I picked ScreenRec to make quick video demos without paying anything. It records my screen and voice in one go and doesn’t add watermarks. After I stop recording, I get a link I can share with anyone. It’s really simple and cost-free.

For people like me who are on Linux; Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (and downstream variants) now have a really fancy screenshot tool. But for screen recording, I'd recommend using ScreenRec. It's free, records at the press of two keys, can record in 4K, and gives you 2GB of free, private cloud storage. Source: almost 3 years ago
P.S. You know you can just use F12 for screenshots right? Unless this is console, then nevermind. If it is PC though, I recommend using Screen Rec if you want to capture only a specific part of the screen. Source: about 3 years ago
I tried a lot of different softwares and now use Screenrec. https://screenrec.com/. Source: over 3 years ago
I made sure to document every step of the way via screenshots to ensure I could test enabling and disabling certain features. The screenshot tool I use on Windows is called, ShareX, and I find it extremely useful with regards to pointing out certain elements in an image. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
I've been using ShareX (https://getsharex.com/) for some years, which is also open-source, and very featureful while not feeling too bloated, though Windows only. I'll have to have a look at this next time I'm on a Linux desktop, as I found the options lacking compared to ShareX last time I looked. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
ShareX (https://getsharex.com/) doesn't have quite this nice UX but it's free. I often use it alongside browser dev tools. Here's a screenshot of me measuring this comment box https://i.imgur.com/yoTHbzq.png. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

ShareX [1] is my other "must install" app. I never would have guessed how much my branch of engineering consists of "take a screenshot and draw lines, arrows and circles on it." Being able to customize my workflow to do all of that is really great. [1] https://getsharex.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
