Couchers.org is a non-profit and free platform, built by volunteers and responsible to the couch surfing community, instead of investors. Our goal is to reclaim couch surfing and make it easy and safe for people to connect across cultures, keeping the free-sharing spirit alive and all the amazing travel experiences accessible to everyone. For this we’re including some of the best features from other platforms but tackling the main issues such as: profit incentives, safety, disconnect from community needs, or outdated functionality.

  • New to RV life
My advice is to search up places you want to visit and things you want to do in any free time you have. This is now your hobby, lol. Use apps or websites like campendium, or https://campgrounds.rvlife.com. Remember that you need to book 6 months to a year in advance for the more popular places, especially public campgrounds and super popular areas like the Florida keys for example. • Tell me about your planning process to book the best campsites- specifically National/state parks with hookups
As for researching campgrounds, campendium is good. I use rvtripwizard.com for planning long routes, and it's sister-site https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/ works pretty well. Source: about 1 year ago
  • RV Park Selection
RV Life has a pretty comprehensive campground review section (https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/) that I consider when deciding on places to stay. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Overwhelmed and need some advise.
Https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/ Pick a city/area and look for campgrounds. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I would like to get a list of RV parks us rv’rs has been to that should be avoided with name and location and a short description of why. It will help the new people out drastically and even us experienced people who may not have been there yet. So what places to avoid?
Rvparky, campendium, campgroundreviews, camping.com, thedyrt...I could go on but you have Google too. Source: over 2 years ago

Couchers.org mentions (59)

  • Long-time Couchsurfing user suspended for mentioning "couchers.org" in a private message & remains suspended for not agreeing to ridiculous communication policy
Last month, after mentioning the phrase "couchers.org" (a free alternative to Couchsurfing) in a private message to another user (who said on her profile that she prefers to be contacted there), I was instantly suspended. Source: 11 months ago
  • Why are there no negative references?
Yep, it's an issue with couchsurfing, nobody wants to leave a negative reference. This was actively being discussed in couchers.org. I myself felt pretty uncomfortable leaving a neutral reference once. Source: 11 months ago
  • Warmshowers as a host??
You could also use couchers.org. It's more a follow-up to the broken couchsurfing.com, so a much wider scope. Currently it's free and says it will stay that way, they want to go with volunteer effort. Source: 12 months ago
  • Airbnb vs Camping
Couchsurfing: my preferred way of touring: you get to meet great and likeminded people, you don't have to lug around camping gear (although it's good to bring an indoor-sleeping bag). The site with name couchsurfing.com is broken. But the oldschool warmshowers.org and the new couchers.org are great! You have to treat this type of hospitality as a gift and not consider it a free service. If you can, hosting others... Source: 12 months ago
  • Backpacking through the states by train for the first time. Any tips?
Also, I would suggest joining a hospitality org. The best, original one is Servas - www.servas.org - but there's couchers.org, trustroots.org and others. it could help you immensely. Source: 12 months ago
