Two days ago I enabled SFTP access on port 22 for a friend on a remote location to whom I needed to transfer some files but who likes to use pyLoad, so DSM’s simple file share via web link wasn’t an option. Set up port forwarding in the router, everything worked as expected. You didn't mention about brand of the switches, but majority of vendors is covered with Oxidized: https://github.com/ytti/oxidized Just configure it with git backend, and you have version control and device backups.
