I looked online and learned that this is not possible through requests (1, 2, 3, 4) and I would have to resort to something like pycurl or px but all examples online had username and password provided explicitly. I use WSL2 (and also docker-wsl2) at work behind a corporate proxy. I run px https://github.com/genotrance/px on the windows side, which since I'm on a domain joined computer gets neccessary NTLM2 hashes & Kerberos tickets from SSPI (also it finds the correct place to send a given URL based on a proxy.pac file if you have one configured).
