ProWritingAid Reviews

  1. Readable, Quick and Easy to Use

I've tried other proofreading programs and found them to be very limited. ProWritingAid is the only program I know of that has a built-in grammar checker. Also, the free version has a lot of features that paid versions don't have, so I highly recommend it. This program is great for students who want to improve their writing skills. It's especially helpful for those who write in other languages, because the grammar checker can help you spot errors in your translations.

Best AI Proofreader for Non-Native English Speakers: Grammarly, QuillBot, Engram, ProWritingAid, Ginger, Trinka [Updated 2023]
Score: 4/10. The free version of ProWritingAid failed to resolve basic grammar and punctuation issues and advanced structure issues. The resulting sentences are not much of an improvement from the original ones and require further proofreading. None of them would have been produced by a native speaker.

  • Ask HN: What side projects landed you a job?
Back in 2019, I made an advanced MS Word add-in spellchecker that integrates the ProWritingAid API to spot all the errors in an interactive way where you just hover over a misspelled word or an incorrect expression and a popup shows at the mouse pointer's position where you can quickly correct the word with suggestions, or open a task pane on the right side of the active document for more advanced features. ProWritingAid: Includes all the features of Hemingway, plus much much more. Grammar checking, word echo checking, style checking, passive voice monitoring, etc, etc. ProWritingAid is a really powerful piece of editing software. Honestly, a little too much for some folks, imho. If you do end up picking this one, I'd recommend choosing a few editing features to use- using too many would cut into your author voice,... • There are no new social networks
    > Where is the public open chats of cyber space? It used to be every tech-savvy person had their own PhpBB instance and built small communities with that. All that has largely migrated to Discord, Reddit, Facebook Groups, and to a lesser extent: Lemmy & Mastodon. There's also quite niche and bespoke communities like Subreply[0], Tildes[1], and Raddle[2] (Built with Postmill). I prefer the Reddit style Karma system... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago

I've seen some other alternatives such as raddle where independent users are trying to recreate the Reddit experience with a new platform (yet it doesn't seem to use the same Karma System, make of that what you will) but I'm still curious to see where everyone is going if large parts of Reddit disappear after July 1st...
