  • Just ran some backtesting and found something unexpected.
So, I tested as far back as the portfoliovisualizer.com would let me the various equivalents that u/apollosmith lists and it *seems* that Schwab's offerings:. Source: 8 months ago
  • Five-Factor vs Four Found Combo
I'm choosing a strategy for long-term investment. There are discussions about Five-Factor and Four Found Combo(and a 10-part portfolio). But I can't find any posts/threads comparing them. Which one is better? I used the portfoliovisualizer.com tool to analyze the portfolios. The results are very close. I can't decide which one to choose. Any advice/thoughts are appreciated. • Why would a Perpetual Withdrawal Rate ever be higher than Safe Withdrawal Rate?
Lately I've been playing around a lot with the Monte Carlo simulation tool over at portfoliovisualizer.com to stress test my FIRE plans against different asset allocations. I've noticed that the Perpetual Withdrawal Rate sometimes ends up being a higher % than the Safe Withdrawal Rate in the performance summary section that shows the outcomes for different percentiles. This just doesn't make sense to my brain if,... Source: 12 months ago
  • Handling This Rebuttal to Dividends
I didn't have a thought process: I ran Portfolio Visualizer on the combination. The 60/40 blend is better than 50/50 and better than either one alone--they beat the so-called benchmark. Check out https://portfoliovisualizer.com with different values. You can try substituting SCHG for VO. Remember that this is backtesting and that no one can tell the future. Source: 12 months ago
  • Standalone Proposal Tool
Ah, ok. So you need it to also do a comparison, or side-by-side of current vs. proposed. If I need to show a visual comparing two portfolios for any reason, I use portfoliovisualizer.com. We don't use it much for proposal purposes, but we do use it to review our models, etc. It can genereate decent looking PDFs. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) Dividend Stock - Chip in?
You might have missed the valuation graph from gurufocus.com. It represents historical p/e, p/b, p/s and future estimates. In general though for me personal at least I'm more interested in the quality of a company vs the valuation. It always fluctuates and if a great company is over valued I put it on a watch list. • Notes from **Invest Like a Guru: How to Generate Higher Returns At Reduced Risk With Value Investing - Charlie Tian**
Another important parameter to observe is the overall market valuation. As with individual stocks, the overall market can be measured with P/E ratio and P/S ratio. But just like with cyclical companies, the whole economy is cyclical. During recessions, profit margins are low and earnings are depressed. P/E ratio gives a false indication of the market valuation. Yale professor Robert Shiller's cyclically adjusted... Source: over 2 years ago
