Have been digging a little more in the little time I have spare at the moment - Seems DNS blacklists/redirect are not fully successfull. Even though I have redirected the domains sling.com, slingbox.com and slingmedia.com to a local "HoneyPod" on my lan it still appears that the slingbox is trying to talk to 67.148.153.136 and 67.148.153.250 on the internet which it can not get to since I shutdown all internet... I just blacklisted slingmedia.com and slingbox.com in my DNS so the boxes can not resolve it but that is pretty bad behavior for a company to do that! Source: over 1 year ago
This has become a little worse with the Slinger server, but I think this is an issue with the Slingbox itself as I see the issue with their application. But I see a lot of cases where the audio gets ahead of the video. Have others seen it? Or does anyone have solutions? One of the solutions on slingbox.com is to factory reset the box. Also, after my first apparently failed attempt at trying a factory reset with no access to sling what I did was put the slingbox and a PC behind a cheapy old router I had so I could just unplug the uplink cable to make sure nothing was leaking up to the internet.
