Also, after my first apparently failed attempt at trying a factory reset with no access to sling what I did was put the slingbox and a PC behind a cheapy old router I had so I could just unplug the uplink cable to make sure nothing was leaking up to the internet. Just concerned about what your router is doing when blocking "slingbox.com" does it just do a DNS lookup and block that IP? In my packet capture there's alot of cha-cha between the box and sling desktop to IP addresses that don't resolve 67.148.153.116 and 67.148.153.116,220 for example.

Sling TV

Upon reboot, it will reach a screen that says "Slingbox updated" which obviously is not possible since I blocked sling.com and there was no way an update could be applied in the amount of time the reboot took.
