I used multiple free hosters in the last few months and thats the best one i found so far.
very simple to use. and if you're having trouble you can go to their discord and they will help you out. Much better than forge, more mod viarity and you can even reccomend mods on their discord.

Cuberite might be a bit more popular than PloudOS. We know about 7 links to it since March 2021 and only 5 links to PloudOS. Right now the official Minecraft VR is absolutely terrible if you have java I suggest Vivecraft or MCXR. I use MCXR because of the sodium support. If you want you can try ploud os https://ploudos.com/en/ which is a free Minecraft hosting service that allows java-bedrock crossplay(check the faq).
