I looked at a bunch of these 2 years ago and ended up using PhotoView for a private gallery. It had the right mix of simplicity and features, and I was actually able to get it running. https://github.com/photoview/photoview. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
I can suggest 3 options. * Photoview - It is like a gallery with recursive folder structure (folders inside folders) support. You can create shareable links for the folders, with password protection. The UI is great. And your clients will be able to download the complete folder, also individual images at either full resolution or reduced. I have tried A LOT of solutions and I finally stopped after using Nextcloud and Photoview. I synchronise files from my computer to Nextcloud using rclone and view them on Photoview whenever I need. You can sync to you nextcloud using their official app on phone. I use Photoview because I have not found a single self-hosted solution that keeps the folder structure and lets me view them as both, in folder structures... Source: about 1 year ago
Self-host and use Photoview [1], it has face recognition. I use this since 2 years with 5TB of photos (on ZFS) and it works flawlessly. It is worth it - everything under your control and you decide when to migrate. [1]:https://github.com/photoview/photoview. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
PhotoView is the only one of these I've found a) functional/usable and b) tolerable. Source: over 1 year ago
It really is hard to leave Gmail when all of your data has been conveniently stored therein. This is one of Google's retention strategies and it is indeed brilliant. That said, there's a vast number of self-hosted alternatives like Stalwart Mail (email) [1], Immich (images) [2], NextCloud (Google Docs) [3], etc. [1] https://stalwa.rt [2] https://immich.app [3] https://nextcloud.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 29 days ago
Good open source self-hostable alternatives exist! https://nextcloud.com/ (no affiliation, just a longtime happy user) is great for file sharing and even collaborative online document editing. If you do not want to host your own instance, there are many great providers who will host one for you at a low cost. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
See Configuration and syntax changes and Special packages. The latter this time includes changes around NextCloud 23 and Tor Browser prior to 12.5, both of which should be upgraded beforehand. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
> Cloud storage for phones: http://nextcloud.com Thanks, that sums it up for me. I used OC/NC for years but in the last three I mostly abandoned it because the desktop app (for Windows, at least) is atrocious and Android one... isn't good either. But as on-demand document download with occasional upload it's fine. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
