I am already using Hashicorp Packer at work and for personal projects and I wanted to test This idea out by wrapping it a single Packer Template file. Hashicorp Packer provides a nice wrapper / abstraction over the QEMU in order to boot the image and use it to set it up on first-boot. Depends on your region and what sites you're using. I live in the middle of nowhere far from civilization, and 1.1.1.1 returns terrible IPs for many sites including google.com (which pings at 350-400 ms if you resolve it through 1.1.1.1, but at 90-100 ms if you're using any other resolver). They do it because they block EDNS0 in order to protect your privacy or something like that. So I use 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9 in... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago

Yeah I don't trust ISP DNS, they can see your traffic and dns requests. Using a more privacy dns server like Cloudflare https://1.1.1.1/ or Quad9 https://quad9.net/ are good and free. Source: about 1 year ago
