For that reason, I think this would be a good candidate for an open-source program. Unfortunately, while there are a number of FOSS speech-to-text libraries, finding one implemented in a simple program is harder. The only thing I found after a quick search was oTranscribe which seems to be an interview tool for journalists, but if all you need is for someone to be able to dictate an email to be copy-pasted... It is slow and designed to be easy. In its defense it is a casual app designed to be used casually. On the other hand, I took the German and Dutch courses in 2019-2020 and got enough basis in them to be able to now listen/watch content in the languages and to learn from the languages. I learnt some basics from the site memrise.com and im still learning. Even talking with my turkish friends and their family helps me a lot to get better. Everytime I have the chance to speak with someone in turkish, I do it, no matter if im good or not.
