There is a lot of work in games, particularly board games, but these do not really solve something "useful" for society. I have seen also lots of toy examples with libraries like gym and some robotics but in general these are rather proof-of-concept models or just models that do not work at all. Play a bit against the Chess Engine https://stockfishchess.org/ if you want to get an idea about what an elite chess player can do. Source: 10 months ago

So if you want to play against Stockfish, play against it. And in fact I would recommend not playing it on chess.com or Lichess with their artificial crippling levels. Download Stockfish, put it on a GUI and play it full strength and have fun getting utterly demolished. Source: about 1 year ago

For us mortals I suggest SCIDvsPC https://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/ and CaissaBase http://caissabase.co.uk/ (4.8million games) then add Stockfish https://stockfishchess.org/ for analysis. Source: about 1 year ago

Just to analyze positions in general, you can use the analysis boards on websites, and I'd recommend also having an offline chess GUI running Stockfish. You can sometimes go deeper and fiddle with more things. My recommendations are Scid vs. PC or PyChess. You would need to download Stockfish too, as the built-in ones are a bit oudated.
