Roon (Music Player) Reviews

The 7 Best Windows Music Players for Hi-Res Audio
While most examples of hi-res music player software focus on sound quality alone, Roon focuses on something else. The developers say that something has been lost in the transition to digital music. To bring back the feeling of engagement you’d get from poring over liner notes, Roon aims to present a searchable “magazine” of your music.

  • On Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and YouTube Music
In reaction to the recent news that Google plan to shut down Google Podcasts and roll it into YouTube Music, I made a couple of comments on the announcement. I realized that I should probably share them here as well. Any further thoughts will be shared in separate posts. Source: 9 months ago
  • Drought threatens Panama Canal [video]
I had no idea that the Panama Canal required fresh water. Peak price being paid for canal passage is $900k https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly92aWRlby1hcGkud3NqLmNvbS9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcy93c2ovd2hhdHMtbmV3cw%3D%3D&episode=YjkxMGQxZWUtNTYwYy0xMWVlLWEwODMtZmI4Mjg3NjRmN2U3. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Google Podcast Subscription
I've tried: - Restarting my phone - reinstalling Google podcasts - Using my second Google account (same thing) - Trying from https://podcasts.google.com/ on my Desktop. Source: 12 months ago
  • I cannot interact with the menu on the podcasts.google.com!
Do any of you guys have issue with the podcasts.google.com when trying to listen to podcasts? When I try to press "subscriptions", "queue" or any other parts of the left menu I can't seem to be able to press them! It's almost like they're not there. The only part on the left side that I can press is the hamburger icon at the top of the left corner.. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Are there any stations or podcasts that are as good as the art bell episodes that are currently running?
Thanks to those suggesting other Art-like podcasts, I will check them out. The best Art Bell podcast archive I have found is titled "art bell tape vault" even has a website. The audio quality of that archive seems the best too. I use podcasts.google.com to listen to them. Source: about 1 year ago

  • What do you guys use to play music on the go?
I also use Roon, which is a little complicated to describe here. Basically I have my own home server with music on, and then I can use the Roon ARC app to access it on the go, similar to above (and is similar to PlexAmp mentioned elsewhere here). Source: 12 months ago
  • Better sound than AppleTV 4K driving KEF LS50Ws?
You might want to give roon or audirvana a try. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Just bought a house with multi room speakers. Help?

  • Poor schemas, poor cataloguing: why music tagging sucks
Roon handles metadata and relationships between entities the least bad of anything I’ve tried. It’ll do things like link covers and live performances of the same song together, or let you group multiple issues of the same album and switch between them. It’s not cheap, and it takes some effort to fix some bad source data, but I’ve found it very rewarding and get a ton of enjoyment exploring my library now.... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • iOS 16.3 Code Reveals Apple Continues to Work on Classical Music App
Take a look at Roon. It's pricing and mobile limitations are disqualifications for me, but it's tagging is simply phenomenal. Source: over 1 year ago
