If nasdaq.com is correct I would have to pay somewhat 500$ a month, which is nothing compared to the time I spent to get price quotes from Nasdaq partners and the fun I head writing about my quest to get this data and talking about it... . You probably went to nasdaq.com which is NASDAQ's site for retail and web-search landing. They have information there and monetize it with advertising like many other sites do. As others have noted, they are a broad business and it is a revenue stream. I want to have as much data as I can have regarding Nasdaq (Stocks). As far as I know level 2 only usually gives about best 5 to 10 orders in either direction around the price. I researched Nasdaq data feed options and found that total view should give me all the trades and order information there is (Full order book depth) and according to nasdaqtrader.com TotalView comes with a subscription fee of 375 Dollar per... That said, you can verify my math with the share ownership from the most recent 10K-A, Jason Hope's last Form 13, the open short interest listed on Nasdaq.com, and the daily volume from ChartExchange. If you don't know about volume & MM's, I need to figure out where to point you... a good book on how markets work, I guess.
